The emergence of a new technology or industry implies huge business opportunities. Judging from the evolution rules in recent decades, the emergence of new industries has a tremendous impact on existing business models, such as the Internet, mobile Internet, sharing economy, etc. Precisely because of these "benefits", people are full of expectations for the market prospects of the Internet of Things (IoT), as compared with previous innovations, IoT features a larger number of connections and a wider scope of influence.

The huge IoT market cake has attracted many enterprises to enter the game, especially in this early stage when "anything is possible". Therefore, many enterprises have the vision of becoming the "BAT of the IoT era". In fact, for existing small and medium-sized enterprises or entrepreneurs, does the IoT really have such promising prospects? Recently, the author had an in-depth exchange with Zou Donghai, Marketing Director of Huapu Microelectronics, on this issue.

The Internet of Things is not black technology, but an integration of existing industries

Many people think of the IoT as cool black technology, but this is not the case. Technically speaking, the IoT has not reached a revolutionary level. Various IoT technologies such as sensors, RFID, wireless communication technologies, cloud platforms, artificial intelligence, etc., are not new concepts. However, if these technologies can be well integrated and applied, they will bring unexpected chemical reactions - this is the charm of the IoT. Zou Donghai stated that to excel in the IoT from a technical perspective, it is only necessary to address the two most core needs of the IoT: compatibility and stability.
